Summer is the perfect time of year to get outdoors and enjoy an activities. Spending time outdoors is beneficial for people of all ages, but especially as we age. Not only does it feel good to soak up the vitamin D and fresh air, but spending time outdoors has also been shown to improve mental and physical well-being. Here’s some of our suggestions on how you or your loved-one can take advantage of the sunny season.
Walking is a great way to enjoy the outdoors and stay active, while maintaining your cardio health and seeing the sights around you. At Karingal Green we have extensive gardens and open spaces that are perfect for a morning walk before the temperature and UV Rays get too high. If you fancy venturing out further, Hawkevale Bushland is less than a two-minute drive away and gorgeous for an afternoon stroll amongst the local flora and fauna.
Picnic in the Grounds
This classic outdoor activity is a wonderful way to spend a balmy afternoon. Invite family and friends, take a stroll through the gardens, and then set up on Village Green in the shade. Whether it’s an extravagant BBQ or a simple sandwich with a healthy side, picnics are an ideal way to socialise while soaking up some fresh air and quality conversation.
Playing yard games in Karingal’s gardens is a fantastic way to enjoy everything Summer has to offer. Organise a round of Bocce or ring toss with friends later in the day when the air is cooler and the sun’s lower in the sky. And if you’re feeling up to it the Swan Lawn Bowls Club is less than 15-minutes down the road and a great afternoon activity with family.
If it’s simply too hot to be outdoors, then a trip our Wellness Centre will help you escape the heat.
